The Relais & Chateaux-Hotel Giardino in Ascona, Switzerland, is famous for its lush gardens and excellent service. It has been lauded as the Country House Hotel of the Year by the Harper Associate's Hideaway Report in 1989, under the management of hotelier Hans Leu. The Mediterranean-inspired five-star hotel offers sumptuous meals from its two restaurants, namely, Ristorante Aphrodite and Osteria Giardano. It also offers special services such as site-seeing excursions, bike rides, a golf programme, seminars on energy and relaxation, and cooking courses.

Serving business guests

Hotels and motels in Zurich, Switzerland, are increasingly focusing on business travelers. Many are transforming themselves into niche players and are undergoing renovations and technological upgrades. Hotel Glarnischhof, for instance, spent 10 million Swiss francs to be better prepared to meet the needs of its business guests. Hotel Baur au Lac, the Sofitel Zurich, Savoy Baur en Ville, the Schweizerhof and other hotels are also offering business equipment and/or conference rooms to attract these clients.
