Scotia gives Bensimon $17M gift

The Bank of Nova Scotia (Canada) has awarded its estimated $17-million advertising account to Toronto, Ontario-based advertising agency, Bensimon.Byrne D'Arcy. The bank started to search for a new ad agency in late Nov 2000 after it decided to end its contract with BBDO Canada. Bensimon was chosen from eleven agencies that participated in the review, which was conducted by search consultant Scudamore and Associates for the bank.

Upper Canada taps Holmes & Lee

Upper Canada Brewing, a brewer owned by Guelph, Ontario-based Sleeman Brewing and Malting, has chosen Holmes and Lee, to handle the media advertising for its brands. Upon receipt of the contract, the initial task of the Toronto, Ontario-based advertising agency is to develop new creative for the Upper Canada Lagger, Dark Ale and Wheat brands. Holmes and Lee replaced Publicis SMW as Upper Canada Brewing's agency of record.

Molson's Miller biz to Bensimon

Molson Canada has chosen Toronto, Ontario-based Bensimon.Byrne D'Arcy to handle its Miller advertising business that includes such products as Miller Lite, Miller Genuine Draft and Milwaukee's Best. The first assignment of Bensimon in its new contract is to conceptualize and launch a print and outdoor advertising campaign for Miller Genuine Draft for the Western Canadian markeplace.
