Scottish Power posts profit drop, prices lift revenue

Scottish Power PLC of the United Kingdom posted a 21 percent decrease in net profit for the first half to 180.8 million Pounds from 230.3 million Pounds. Revenue was up 23 percent to 2.6 billion Pounds from 2.12 billion Pounds. Revenue increases were due to rocketing wholesale energy costs and increased retail sales.

E.On's net profit jumps 50% on growth in foreign markets

First-quarter net profit for electric utility E.ON AG rose by 50% to reach $4.15 bil, due primarily to earnings outside its Germany-based market. Adjustments, however, for energy derivatives marking to market and special effects produce growth of 33%. Sales increased by 6.1%.
