Article Abstract:
An increasing number of marketers in Canada are enlisting the services of outside consultants to help evaluate potential advertising agencies. These marketers seek advice ranging from suggestions about fair practices to comments on a short list of agencies, or even for someone to act as the main point of contact. Many marketers say that consultants enable them to conduct a fairer advertising agency review process. This would ultimately enable them to select the appropriate agency and avoid having to conduct an expensive and time-consuming review process for at least a few years.

Third parties go on election ad attack
Article Abstract:
Ontario's provincial election has generated significant advertising from third-party groups that are interested in seeing the ouster of Premier Mike Harris. One of them is Building Ontario Campaign '99, which is spending $800,000 on three TV ads, attacking Harris' policies on health care and education. The Ontario Nurses Assn has also ran ads in radio and community papers that are critical of Harris' health care policies. The Toronto Transit Commission also has its radio and transit ads, which criticize Harris for not funding public transit.
