In 1993, the self-catering holiday market was valued at 5.4 billion pounds sterling, representing a 43% rise on 1989. Estimates for 1994, suggest that the market grew 10.5% to 6 million pounds. Of total volume, 12.8 million self-catering holidays were taken abroad, compared to 8.9 million in 1989 and an estimated 14 million in 1994.
