Sending the boss to do a politician's job
Article Abstract:
The bosses union in France has come to represent a new form of opposition to the left-wing parties coming to power in Europe in the face of the failure of right-wing parties to contain the political successes of the left. The French union has even shed its old name, with its references to company bosses, and has adopted a populist brand name, Mouvement des Entreprises de France. With such high political profiles, Europe's businessmen are in effect becoming ersatz pro-market opposition movements.
