Seoul may test HSBC's pursuit of KEB
Article Abstract:
South Korean politicians and regulators may object to the selling of a majority stake in Korea Exchange Bank to HSBC Holdings PLC, as they have stated that the current owner of the stake, US private equity company Lone Star Funds, did not pay enough for KEB and is therefore likely to make too large of a profit. HSBC Holdings PLC has made a $6.3 bil offer for the 51% stake.
