Setting boundaries for aid to North Korea
Article Abstract:
Food relief to North Korea should not be given unless there is guarantee from the government that workers will be given access, monitoring and scrutiny. The North Korean situation is different from the situation of other countries since the Famine currently raging throughout the country is a result of the actions of the repressionist government. Politicians may tend to use their repressive power even in the event of the famine and workers may find that their relief goods do not go to those most in need.

Australian literati are characters in a farce
Article Abstract:
Australian literati made a blatant mistake when they granted three prestigious awards to 'The Hand That Signed the Paper,' a novel by Helen Darville, who used a false Ukranian identity. Touted as an ideal example of post-modernist literature, the novel turned out to be a fraud. Darville, who claimed to be Ukranian and used the name Helen Demidenko, actually came from a British family. Her novel promotes anti-Semitic sentiments and contains evidence of plagiarism.

Farce and foreign affairs
Article Abstract:
North Korea's leader, Kim Jon Il, has presented to the world tow disparate images. One is that of a rogue, who sees North Korea's export of arms as a part of trade. The other is that of an older statesman, one who is well-briefed, pragmatic and an intelligent autocrat trying to bring the Stalinist country into the modern world. The perception of Kim by various countries is discussed.
