Setting the standard
Article Abstract:
A report published by Arup, Laing Technology and Loughborough University, England, suggested there were a number of areas in building construction where standardisation could be beneficial, such as in record keeping. Preassembly would also help to improve the quality of building work which has been highly criticised by the public. But it is possible clients may use standardization to stop innovative design. The construction industry will be able to benefit from procedures and processes which have worked well in the past if it introduces standardisation.
