Cautious, not risk averse
Article Abstract:
Senior debt providers in the Midlands region of the UK have moved towards creating local teams of specialists. The region has gained a very positive reputation for the conduct of corporate deals, and offers a very wide range of expertise. Advisers are now seeking to source debt funding at an earlier stage, bringing benefits for all those involved. However, an element of caution is emerging, reflected in the fact that deals are now taking longer to complete.

A bright future for ESOPs
Article Abstract:
Britain's Labour government supports employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). It wants to encourage employees in the part-purchase of private companies and is currently looking at ways to improve business incentives. Private shareholders are taking advantage of tax breaks by reinvesting money from share sales into ESOP schemes. Corporate finance houses such as Capital Strategies offer advise on ESOPs and management and employee buyouts.
