Sharp angles
Article Abstract:
Architects and concrete manufacturers must work together to produce more colourful concrete facades for modern buildings and move away from the traditional plain, white or grey concrete structures which do little for the imagination. Several famous architects have experimented with coloured concrete, although there work is often poorly received by the architectural community.

Sharp angles
Article Abstract:
Arizona has a tradition of experimental concrete architecture dating back to the 1930s. Taliesin West has examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's technique of encasing rocks in poured concrete to create walls resembling desert rock faces, and Paolo Soleri continues to experiment with concrete techniques at the Cosanti Foundation and Arcosanti. Works by architect William Bruder include the Phoenix Central Library, which has mobile cladding allowing it to respond to weather conditions, and the Cox Residence, which uses broken concrete blocks to provide a textured finish.
