Article Abstract:
The recent Prestige oil spill off Galacia has prompted Spain's authorities to place orders for two multi-role towing and salvage ships which will be under the charge of Spain's coastal defences and rescue services. The salient features of these pollution prevention multi-purpose ships are described. Other multi-purpose ships being built by Armon Vigo, Rolls-Royce and Astillero Zamakona are also described.
