Sintex (Ceska Trebova, Czech Republic), textile company, should increase its net profit by 20 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 2.9 mil Kc in 1998. The company's main programme is knitwear production. The firm should extend the production to 60 t per month in 1999 compared to 53 t per month in 1998. In March 1999 Sintex invested 2 mil Kc in the purchase of machines, mainly for knitwear production intended for luxury clothing. In 1998 it invested 11 mil Kc in the purchase of technology. Its turnover increased by 37% to 200.790 mil Kc in 1998 compared to 1997. The firm's proceeds per employee increased to 2.4 mil Kc in 1998 compared to 1.7 mil Kc in 1996. Sintex has 90 employees.

Autopost-Express (AE) (Czech Republic), forwarding company, has had a 70% stake acquired by Geis (Neustadt, Germany). Geis wants to invest mainly in transport and transshipment equipment, the improvement of information technology and the training of employees at the new subsidiary. AE has eight centres in the Czech Republic currently. The firm delivers piece and parcel consignments within 24 hours all over the Czech Republic.
