Siemens profit falls 17%, hit by price-fixing fine

Siemens AG of Germany posted a 17 percent decrease in net profit for the first quarter to 739 million Euros ($957.8 million) from 886 million Euros last year. Operating profit increased with a strong performance from the information-technology sector. Earnings were effected by a 423 million Euro fine for price-fixing from the European Union.

Siemens AG of Germany posted net profit increases by 14 percent for the third quarter. Net profit increased to 792 million Euros ($1.01 billion) from 389 million Euros last year. Revenues were increases as sales in all units were up.
