Situation in waste water management in Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The country will have to expend more than EUR 2 bil on waste water management to meet the demands of EU directives. This is stated in a study of the World Bank of 1999. Over 1993-1998 the State Fund for the Environment invested more than CEK 7 bil by means of non-repayable subsidies. During 1990-1999 CEK 60 bil were invested in the construction of waste water treatment plants. Most of the Czech municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants have their own sewerage but 10% of them do not have sewage treatment plant at its end. A total of 74% of the Czech population are connected to sewerage. A sewage treatment plant for a municipality with 2,000 inhabitants costs CEK 10 mil. According to the latest data, 99 of all the municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants have no sewage treatment plants, 21 have no sewerage and 114 are only partly connected to sewerage.

Intershop extends its activities
Article Abstract:
Intershop (Czech Republic), investment trade company, plans to go on with the construction in the locality Cerny Most in Prague, the Czech Republic. The firm plans to build a leisure park with a multi-cinema, restaurants, a bowling hall, billiards and a fitness centre. The firm's total project in the locality is worth 10 bil Kc. The company's investments in the first part of the construction, which covers about 50% of all the locality's area of 28 ha, amounted to nearly 2 bil Kc. The investments were intended mainly for in the construction of the leisure park, which has been commissioned.
