Small is ugly: Japan's OTC shares

The share prices for firms listed in Japan's over the counter markets have not kept pace with those of firms listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Many foreign investors are buying OTC stocks, believing them to be undervalued, but Japanese economic conditions bode poorly for OTC stocks.

It was hoped that the Japanese stock-exchange performance would finally begin to rebound as the economy deregulates. Instead the Nikkei 225 average continues its seven year downturn, as slow growth and concerns over deregulated industries slows investment.
