Reed Elsevier considers its autonomy
Article Abstract:
Morris Tabaksblat, the chairman of Reed Elsevier PLC, said that the first major issue that the new chief executive would have to deal with is whether or not the company should stay independent. Mr. Tagbaksblat said that Reed may have an entirely different look with all the major changes occuring within the publishing industry. Mr. Tabaksblat may even be merged or acquired.

Reed Elsevier hits snag in its search for permanent CEO

Reed Elsevier PLC, which has experienced a sales slump, has announced a profit warning as the result of increased electronic publishing competition. The publisher of the electronic Lexis-Nexis database as well as the ComputerWeekly, Lancet, and Variety periodicals has been searching for its fifth chief executive officer since 1993.
