Special operations rigid inflatable boat design unveiled
Article Abstract:
Vanguard Boats has released the Vanguard Modular Over-The-Horizon Delivery System (MOTHDS) rigid inflatable boat (RIB). The approximately 4.7m RIB design, which can be made of either an inflatable polyurethane tube or a foam-filled tube, is designed for optimum clandestine surface insertion or extraction. Vanguard's MOTHDS is ideal for multi-service missions that require the use of combat rubber raiding craft similar to the Zodiac F470.

Sparrow Hawk HUD targets Tomcat
Article Abstract:
Northrop Grumman has awarded a contract to Flight Visions Inc. to supply 82 sets of its Sparrow Hawk Head-Up Display (HUD) and FV-3000 Modular Mission Display Processor System for the upgrade of the US Navy's (USN) F-14B Tomcat fighters. The upgrade, according to Flight Visions President Robert Atac, increased the USN reliability figure of 11h mean-time-between failures (MTBF) with the F-14Bs current HUD, while eliminating the need for an aircraft to be grounded until the next daytime VFR (visual flight rules) flight opportunity. The Sparrow Hawk HUD will be placed into the old HUD to make use of the same connectors, wiring and mounting points in the aircraft, thus resulting to a programmable HUD with a new multi-function display, a new weapon stores control panel, and a new pilot display control panel, according to Atac.
