Taiwan Aerospace announced its purchase of a 40% share in McDonnell Douglas in Nov 1991, and targeted Jan 31, 1992 for completion of the deal. Second thoughts by the Taiwan government about McDonnell's ability to compete in the jumbo passenger carrier market have delayed negotiations for nearly six months.
