Standing out in the fund frenzy
Article Abstract:
Mutual fund management companies in Canada spend over C$100 million in the nine weeks that preceed the registered retirement savings plan investment deadline. The large expenditure by companies that include AIM, Fidelity, Trimark, Elliott and Page, ING Direct, Montrusco Bolton Inc and TD Greenline Mutual Funds is spent on product-specific branding and image- building campaigns. Analysts agree that such a frenetic pace between many small competitors could only result in consolidation.
