Statistical validation of simulation models
Article Abstract:
The problem of validating a simulation model using statistical techniques is considered. Specifically, the Dutch Navy's naval mine hunting operation (HUNTOP) model for sonar searching at sea was validated via sensitivity analyses on a per module basis and for the model as a whole. The sensitivity analyses were carried out using experimental design theory, regression analysis and null-hypothesis tests of equal expectations for the simulated and real probabilities.
