Stocks of big hotels checking in with gains

The accomodations industry is experiencing strong demand after three years of flat growth, few major construction projects and low room rates. The industry has posted strong earnings in the second quarter which has increased recent stock prices. The travel industry seems to be coming back into its own four years after September 11th, 2001.

Hilton expands in India as market demand soars
Article Abstract:
Hilton Hotels Corp. plans to invest $143 mil in a joint venture with New Delhi realty company DLF Ltd. during the next seven years to develop 75 hotels in India. Hilton owns 26% of the venture, with the remainder controlled by DLF.

Ritz-Carlton tops Four Seasons

Ritz-Carlton was given higher ratings than Four Seasons in a JD Powers and Associates yearly survey. It was the first time that Ritz-Carlton ranked higher than Four Seasons the survey's last three years.
