Successful syndication of leveraged debt
Article Abstract:
The constantly increasing availability of private equity has been a key factor behind the rise in the value of transactions completed in the UK from $3.2 billion to $21 billion since 1989. One of the most significant features of the market has been the expansion of an extremely liquid primary syndications market. The development of this market has played an important part in permitting the overall transaction size to expand to a very high level. A successful syndication involves a well managed company, an informative sales process and an appropriate capital structure.

Buyout potential for the 'celtic tiger'
Article Abstract:
The success of the Irish economy is well documented in Europe, where it is often called the 'celtic tiger'. Ireland's economic growth in 1997 amounted to 7.1% and the trend is set to continue in 1998. The Irish merger and acquisition market grew strongly in 1996, although the number of management buyouts and buyins is surprisingly low when compared to the UK, according to figures from the Centre for Management Buy-Out Research.
