Thales spreads its wings

Airsys ATM has changed its name to Thales ATM. since the rebranding of Thomson-CSF at the end of 2000, following the acquisition of Racal in the UK, all subsidiary companies are already known as Thales. Syseca is named Thales Information Systems; Racal Recorders is known as Thales Contact Solutions; and Redifon MEL and Thomson-CSF Communications have been renamed Thales Communications. The new name reflects the group's international activities.

European enterprise takes global challenge

Aerospatiale Matra and Daimler-Chrysler Aerospace were given the permission to form the European Aeronautical, Defense and Space firm. The collaboration will signal the consolidation of the European defense and aerospace industries. European Aeronautical will be the third largest defense and aerospace firm in the world with sales of Euro 19.8 billion for 1998 and an estimated operating income of Euro 1 billion.
