Suez's foreign holders urge better merger deal

Foreign shareholders of Suez S.A. of France (including California Public Employees Retirement System and Knight Vinke Asset Management of the United States) have posted concerns that the impending merger with Gaz de France is underselling the public utilities giant. The merger in France is unpopular amongst unions, employees, shareholders and regulators. The merger is valued at 41 billion Euros ($51.39 billion).

Trio of oil majors prepare to court PetroKazakhstan

PetroKazakhstan Inc. of Canada has a market value of $3.5 billion Canadian Dollars and is being squired for an acquisition. PetroChina Co. of China and OAO Lukoil of Russia both have petroleum interests in Kazakhstan and are considering takeover bids. India's ONGC Videsh Ltd. has also shown interest in tendering a bid.
