Suomen vienti Aasian kriisimaihin supistunutyli kolmanneksen
Article Abstract:
The Research Institute of Finnish Economy has published a study on the effects the Asian crisis has on Finland's export. During early 1998 Finland's export to the Asian countries facing crisis has decreased 34% from 1997. Especially Finnish machine industry will suffer considerably from the Asian crisis since 17% of their export is to those countries. Also the export of electrical and electronics industries to the Asian countries facing crisis has diminished, however, the effect is not as considerable since the Asian export accounts for only 6% of their export. The Asian export by other Finnish industries is minor. Otherwise, Finland's export is growing rapidly. The Research Institute of Finnish Economy predicts that due to the Asian crisis the increase in import prices will slacken by 0.5-1 percentage points in 1998. According to analysts, first dramatic outcome of Japan's recession would be China devaluating the yuan. That would affect Nokia since China is one of their most important market areas. The Asian countries account for 11% of Finland's total export. The share of the countries in crisis of Finnish export is now approx. 4%.
