Supply rationing in multi-echelon divergent systems
Article Abstract:
The Balanced Stock rationing is a simple inventory control rule developed for multi-echelon distribution systems under periodic review without lot sizing. The basis for the scheme's development is the use of two parameter sets, a set for rationing fractions at the central depot aimed at reducing inventory imbalance and a set of order-up-to-level for local stockpoints aimed at achieving specific target service levels, which is then decomposed such that aims of each subset is achieved.
