Goodbye EDI, hello XML?
Article Abstract:
XML, or eXtensive Markup Language, could become the data communications standard of the future. It is now being used extensively on the Internet to create Web designs and to communicate. Unlike its predecessor, the electronic data interchange (EDI), XML is less expensive and is very easy to set up. Business-to-business transactions over the Internet are projected to increase from less than $100 billion in 1999 to around $500 billion in 2002.

Roam home
Article Abstract:
The ability of cell phones to roam globally is growing rapidly due to the development of GSM networks, or Global System for Mobile Communications, and dual-band or "world phones." Using GSM standard allows cell phones to connect with laptop, transmit faxes and e-mail, surf the Internet and use other digital data features. GSM is regarded as the de facto global standard with over 70 million current users across the world. Dual-band is close to being launched by Ericsson, Siemens and other major cell phone companies. A cell phone equipped with a dual-band standard automatically switches between bands, thus eliminating the need for two phones.
