Survey of Japan's business mood bodes well for low interest rates
Article Abstract:
Economists believe that Japan's economic recovery will continue to be sluggish and delicate for the next two years. One major factor that may adversely affect the country's recovery is its interest rates. If the Bank of Japan decides to raise interest rates, many businesses will be unable to register profits. A recent survey of the Japanese economy showed that a growing number of corporations are opting to establish manufacturing facilities outside the country.

Japan's managers need to embrace a changing world
Article Abstract:
Japanese companies need to confront several underlying issues if they are to become truly multinational organizations. Japanese firms should seek to ease out their traditional fixation on long hours. They should abandon their colonialist mindset and bring more foreigners into the ranks of top management. There is also a pressing need to eliminate employers' discriminatory attitudes towards women and older workers.
