Article Abstract:
Women account for 66% of the world's 1.3 billion desperately poor. Economic programs designed to minimize or eradicate this trend will be the major focus of the United Nations International Conference on Women, which will be held in Beijing, China, in Sep. 1995. One positive development that will contribute to the program is the establishment of women's banks or microbanks, which focuses on funding primarily for women.
