Suspicious cargo
Article Abstract:
The discovery by Hong Kong customs of two undeclared fighter-training bombs and a missile launcher being transported from China to Israel suggests the Israelis may be passing American technology to China. Analysts believe Israel may be helping China develop its military technology and that the bombs and launcher had been shipped to China for copying. Although Israeli-designed, they incorporate American missle technology. Israel denies the accusation. A spokesperson for the American Jewish Committee argues that a country is free to sell weapons it has developed.

Lure of the West
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong-based Goldlion Holdings promotes a very successful line of menswear in China that uses a sense of Western or European identity to add cachet to its product, leading consumers to think the products are actually from the West. However, a cigarette venture in Hainan put 'Made in Hainan' on Goldlion cigarettes sold in duty free shops, essentially blowing Goldlion's cover. This faux pas comes at a time when China is cracking down on false advertising and goods with Western names.
