EU to rule on plan for accessing Deutsche Telekom's new network

Deutsche Telekom AG of Germany is in litigation with the European Commission over allowing competitors access to its new broadband network. The new network provides VDSL - phone, television services and Internet. The telecommunications giant has said it will discontinue expansion plans valued at 3 billion Euros ($3.9 billion) if it is forced to share its infrastructure.

Deutsche Telekom profit falls 87% on taxes, costs

Third-quarter net profit for Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG fell 87% to 259 mil euro, due to higher costs and a deferred tax expense totaling 778 mil euro. However, sales rose 1.4% and adjusted net profit increased by 7%. Separately, Deutsche Telekom announced the sale of its broadcasting business, valued at 850 mil euro, to French firm TDF S.A.
