TNT posts 48% drop in net profit

TNT N.V. of the Netherlands posted a 48 percent drop in fourth quarter profit to 108 million Euros ($128.2 million) from 209 million Euros last year. Results were due to the end of a tax investigation with liability of 150 million Euros to 550 million Euros, and a charge of 111 million Euros for the sale of its French logistics operation.

TNT Logistics Holdings B.V. of the Netherlands is planning to sell its logistics business and buy back 1 billion Euros ($1.18 billion ) in securities. The logistics services concern is the second largest in the world by earnings.
