TVS Srichakra Ltd (TSL) of Madurai recorded a 93 percent increase in its net profit at Rs7.45 crore in 1997-98 (Rs3.86 crore in 1996-97). Its net sales rose to Rs116.36 crore (Rs98.81 crore). Its dividend increased from 22 percent to 25 percent on a paid-up capital of Rs7.17 crore. Its net worth has gone up to Rs20 crore (Rs14.50 crore). Its reserves and surplus increased to Rs2.82 crore (Rs7.32 crore). Its earning per share almost doubled to Rs10.38 (Rs5.38). In 1997-98, its production of tyres increased by 8 percent at 3.5 million units and tubes by 33 percent at 3.3 million units. Its gross profit increased to Rs17.22 crore (Rs10.97 crore). TVS Srichakra Ltd (TSL) has posted a net profit of Rs3.36 crore during the first half of 1998-99 (Rs4.06 crore during the first half of 1997-98). During the period, it posted a rise in the sales to Rs71.46 crore (Rs60.62 crore). While the interest cost fell to Rs2.17 crore (Rs2.25 crore), depreciation increased to Rs1.58 crore (Rs1.26 crore) and the provision for taxation increased to Rs1.44 crore (Rs1.38 crore). TSL raised its tyres and tubes capacity to 43 lakh per annum during the July-September 1998. (ag)
