Tabak is renamed to Philip Morris

Philip Morris CR (PMCR) (Kutna Hora, Czech Republic), cigarette manufacturer, is a new name of Tabak (Kutna Hora, Czech Republic). Tabak was renamed in 2000 according to the name of its majority shareholder Philip Morris (US), which is still the largest US investor in the Czech Republic. PMCR, which controls 80% of the domestic cigarette market, sold 25.9 bil cigarettes in 1999, nearly 13% less compared to 1998. The firm's proceeds increased by 2.3% to more than 14 bil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998. PMCR's net profit totalled 2.8 bil Kc in 1999, 20% more compared to 1998.

Karosa increased its bus sales in 2000
Article Abstract:
Karosa (Vysoke Myto, Czech Republic), bus manufacturer, plans to sell 1,105 buses in 2001, 146 pieces less compared to 2000. The company sold 1,251 buses in 2000, 1.3% more compared to the 1,235 pieces sold in 1999. Its 2000 sales were 10% lower compared to plan. Karosa expects proceeds of CEK 4.6 bil for 2000, up 3.1% from 1999. Its 2000 net profit should be bigger than the CEK 335 mil generated in 1999.
