Taipei eases listing rules
Article Abstract:
The Securities and Futures Commission of Taiwan issued regulations allowing computer software companies to register in stock markets. Industry and investment analysts' believe that the move will improve the financial reserves of software companies. However, companies' have complained against rigid requirements of listing which the commission defended as preventive measures for corrupt practices. Ulead Systems Inc and Ares International Corp, two of the leading software makers are expected to enter the market at the beginning of 1999.

Taiwan rules cause concern: consumers face few choices in mutual funds
Article Abstract:
Taiwan regulators are reluctant to approve new mutual funds which focus on international markets, so mutual-fund companies are having troubles attracting new investors and marketing their funds. Firms such as Polaris Securities Investment Trust Co and Citibank Securities Investment Trust Co. are expected to look into mergers in the near future.
