Takeover fight for Corus moves to a final auction

Corus Group PLC of the United Kingdom is up for auction to Tata Steel Ltd. of India and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional of Brazil says United Kingdom authorities. The auction of the British steel company will occur on January 30th, 2007 and the auction has the possibility of going nine rounds. The results of the auction are expected to top CSN National Steel Co. of Brazil 515 Pence per share offer that values Corus Group PLC at 4.9 billion Pounds ($9.6 billion).

Tata Steel outbids CSN for Corus Group

Tata Steel Ltd. of India bid top bid to acquire Corus Group PLC of the United Kingdom at 6.2 billion Pounds ($12.1 billion). In the auction, Companhia Siderurgica Nacional last bid was 603 Pence ($11.82) per share, while Tata Steel Ltd. final bid was 608 Pence per share, 5 Pence higher. The new synergy will be the fifth largest steel industrial worldwide.
