Talking with guns
Article Abstract:
The Irish Republican Army (IRA) has again been engaged in violence despite its announced willingness to engage the government in multi-party peace talks aimed at ending violence in the country. Two policemen were shot in the back of the head by IRA operatives on June 16, 1997, a move condemned by local and international authorities. Local and international politicians have condemned the killings and have interpreted them as representative of the IRA stand for negotiations.
