OR in practice: results of a survey in the United Arab Emirates
Article Abstract:
A survey of 140 organizations was done to determine the impact of operational research (OR) in commercial and industrial markets in the United Arab Emirates. The survey focused on OR awareness and demand for OR education. Results showed that out of the 126 organizations that responded, 81 were aware of OR while 45 were not. In addition, inventory theory, forecasting models and cost-benefit analysis were listed among the top OR methods.

Ladders, stars and triangles: old and new theory for the practice of public participation
Article Abstract:
Changes evolved, in the theory for the practice of public participation is examined, in the backdrop of Sherry Arnstein's classic Ladder of Participation theory. Ladder theory is reformulated and a new theory called Triangle of Engagement is developed. Relevance of new theory is revealed by its application to real-life problem of the 'usual suspects'.
