Article Abstract:

Precast concrete manufacturer Techrete has been involved in a number of high-profile projects. These include the Bluewater retail development in Kent, England, where it designed a series of cladding panels for the three main stores. It often works on complex buildings, and may be called upon to develop innovative solutions. It constantly re-evaluates the process of production to ensure that the precast business is in line with other industries. Future plans include developments in mould design and assessing the potential of CADCAM techniques and robotics.

Article Abstract:

The new UK headquarters of Banque Paribas was designed by The Whinney Mackay-Lewis Partnership and finished at the end of 1997. The building consists of five main floors, which are topped by a further two floors and a glass dome. The building has a fitness centre, meeting rooms, restaurant and dealing rooms incorporated into the design, along with a spectacular roof terrace.

The Thames Barrier Park fronts the Thames in London, England, just west of the northern end of the Thames Barrier. It was designed by architect Patel Taylor and landscape architect Groupe Signes, with Arup responsible for engineering work. The first phase, involving reclamation and earthworks, started in Jan 1997. The second phase involved building and planting.
