Telcos prepare for local turf wars
Article Abstract:
BCT.Telus and Bell Canada, two of Canada's biggest telephone companies, are preparing to offer local telecommunications services in each other's turf. BC Tel's union with Telus of Alberta, which became final in Jan 1999, was followed by the announcement of CEO George Petty of plans to compete in such areas as Quebec and eastern Ontario. Bell has already entered into a strategic alliance with Manitoba Telephones in its bid to offer local telephone services in Western Canada.
