BP takes control of Veba Oil, boosting presence in Germany

BP PLC has agreed to a multibillion-euro deal to take control of Veba Oil from utility group E. On AG. The action will enable BP PLC to significantly boost its presence in Germany's large oil-products market. BP has the option of fully acquiring Veba as early as the second quarter of next year.

Telecom Italia approaches sale of stake in Retevison parent

Telecom Italia SpA is close to selling its 27% share of Auna, the holding company for Retevison, Spain's second largest telecommunications company. People with knowledge about the situation stated that Auna's other shareholders, Endesa S.A. and Union Fenosa S.A., as well as Banco Santander Central Hispano S.A., plan to buy out Telecom Italia in a deal that could be worth as much as Euro2 billion ($1.78 billion).
