Telecom Italia divides itself, separating fixed, Mobil assets

Telcom Italia S.p.A. of Italy is planning to split its fixed line and mobile phone units into separate divisions. The management move would add "more flexibility, both operationally and financially" said Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera. There is speculation that the move could lead to divestment.
