Telecom Italia plans to raise only $5.45 billion

Telecom Italia SpA is planning to raise as much as five billion euros ($5.45 billion) to defend itself against Olivetti SpA's hostile takeover bid. Olivetti is offering to acquire Telecom for $58 billion. Telecom's plan could cost it in terms of flexibility if Olivetti increases its bid. Up to this point, Olivetti has stated that it is not planning to raise its bid.
