Telefonica cede a Portugal Telecom el 23% deCRT y reserva un 20% a MCI
Article Abstract:
Of the 85% interest in Brazilian telecoms operator CRT now held by the Telefonica do Brasil consortium, 23% will reportedly be ceded to Portugal Telecom and 20% could be sold to WorldCom-MCI, Telefonica's US partners, according to the president of MCI during a recent visit to Spain. Regarding MCI and Telefonica's alliance in Europe, the MCI president says Telefonica will take a 10% stake in companies already set up in Europe except in Italy, where Telefonica will take a 50% stake. Telefonica's stake in Eastern European markets will be 50%.

Crane facturara 1,000 millones en su primer ano en Espana

In its first year of activity, which will end July, 1999, telephone main exchange wholesale company, Crane Telecomunicaciones is predicting a turnover of Pta 1,000mn. Crane is from the UK but has Lucent Technologies of the US as its strategic partner. Crane has installed over 1,200 telephone lines in Spain in just two months of activity and has closed deals for 83 service distribution projects with businesses.
