Telefonica net soars on gains, Vodafone swings to huge loss

Telefonica S.A. of Spain third quarter earnings soared by 84 percent to 2.61 billion Euros ($3.34 billion) from 1.42 billion Euros last year. Vodafone Group S.A. of the United Kingdom posted a 5.11 billion Pounds ($9.71 billion) net loss from 2.78 Pounds last year due to increased competition and telecommunication regulations in Germany.

Vodafone sees cheap phones' big potential
