Telia-Telenor merger could hit hurdle
Article Abstract:
Telenor ASA's proposed merger with Telia AB could experience major complications if the European Union (EU) calls on Telia to sell off its lucrative cable assets. The absence of its cable operations would make it difficult for the merged telecommunications firm to fulfill its expansion plans for the Internet. A person close to Telia said that the company would be forced to seek other alternatives other than the merger with Telenor if it loses its cable assets.
