Tesco in Letnany

Article Abstract:

Tesco Stores CR (Czech Republic), retailer, is building a hypermarket with a selling area of 12,000 sq mt in Prague-Letnany. The building will be one of the largest selling units of the Shopping Centre Letnany (SCL). SCL's total built-up area will be nearly 100,000 sq mt. The first stage of SCL's construction should be completed by the end of 1999. Besides the hypermarket Tesco, SCL will include small trade units on an area of 3,000 sq mt. A leisure time centre including a restaurant, a bowling centre and other retail shops with a total area of 40,000 sq mt should be built during the second stage of SCL's construction. SCL should also include a multicinema. The parent company Tesco (UK) is operating six department stores and two hypermarkets in the Czech Republic currently. Besides the Letnany hypermarket, the firm is building a similar complex in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.

Article Abstract:

Nova hut (NH) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy company, plans to complete a new mini-mill in 2000. The total cost on the construction of the mini-mill amount to 650 mil Kc. The project is realised in co-operation with International Finance Corporation (IFC). IFC participated in the total cost with a credit of 75 mil USD. A syndicate of 16 foreign banks led by IFC, which is a subsidiary of the World Bank, has granted another loan of 175 mil USD for the project. NH covered 300 mil USD of the project's costs from its own sources. About 100 mil USD of the project's costs were covered by three Czech banks led by Komercni banka (Czech Republic).
