Testing Danish tolerance
Article Abstract:
Muslim women wearing headscarves have been banned from certain jobs in Denmark. The issue was sparked off by the banning of a girl from wearing a headscarf while serving at a cash register. One retailer argued that this was similar to banning men from wearing devaiant dress. The government argues that this is discrimination, and cases are likely to appear in court. The Danish People's Party sees Denmark as under threat from Islam, though Moslems have been living in Denmark for some 30 years.
