Textron will buy David Brown Group for $326.6 million

Textron Inc. will acquire David Brown Group PLC for about $326.6 million. The company will also assume about $105 million in David Brown's debt. David Brown is a Huddersfield, England-based maker of industrial pumps, gears and transmission systems. The acquisition is part of Textron's efforts to expand into the industrial-fluid and power-systems market. The company also recently acquired two smaller gear makers in Europe. The company's annual revenue in its Fluid & Power Systems unit is expected to increase to about $1 billion with the new acquisition.
